THE TURNER COCKRELL LACROSSE CLASSIC has been established to help fund the Turner J. Cockrell Scholar Athlete Award and to promote the work of Turner’s Heroes. Turner, a former Allatoona student, sadly lost a hard fought battle against cancer in 2018. While at Allatoona, Turner was a superior athlete and a scholar. But, he was possibly most well known and loved for the amazing smile that was always on his face and lighting up the classroom or sports field. This infectious, bright attitude earned him the nickname, Sunshine. It is our hope that proceeds from the Turner Cockrell Lacrosse Classic will continue to shine the same light that Turner did by supporting the scholarship in his name and the good works of Turner’s Heroes.
