I lived in Italy between for seven years until I was 16 and during that time, I was able to visit several countries and cities. One of those cities was Paris during a Spring Break trip when I was 15 years old. If you were to ask my 15-year-old self if she enjoyed Paris, she would say, "meh."

Fast forward several decades and my husband and I decided that our next European trip would be to Paris. We booked our Delta flight as well as a Marriott branded hotel and the next thing we needed to do was plan what to do. We debated breaking up our trip to take a train to England, Amsterdam, Germany or maybe even Belgium but instead, we settled on doing all six days in Paris.

So ... what do I do? I googled "how to spend six days in Paris" and stumbled across a blog post by World in Paris. And voila ... we had a plan! We didn't follow it exactly but it was pretty close. We also had to re-arrange some of the days based on museum and tour availability but it all worked perfectly.

Day 1 - Montmartre

We landed in Paris that morning and much like any of our other international trips, we attempt to push through the day without taking a nap. This day wasn't an exception. After checking into our hotel, we headed to the Metro station to go to Montmartre. Montmartre was a charming town and one that anyone should add on their must-visit list if they ever come to Paris. Final day step count: 15,042 steps

Day 2 - Normandy

My husband was a former Army Ranger at 2/75 and at Ranger Regiment, so there was no question that we would take a trip to Normandy. We booked a small group tour, no more than eight people, with Blue Fox Travel called Normandy D-Day Tour from Paris. If you love history, Normandy is a must. It was tragically beautiful. Even getting up at the crack of dawn was worth it since the meeting spot was right around the corner from the Arc de Triomphe and there were no cars around it. Final day step count: 12,308 steps

Day 3 - Louvre and surrounding 2nd arrondissement followed by Seine River Dinner Cruise

Louvre Museum is always top of everyone's lists to visit and even if you do, there's no way you'd be able to see it all in one day. We heard that if you were to look at every piece of artwork for only 30 seconds, it would take you six months to see it all! After spending several hours at the Louvre, we walked to the Tuiileries Garden and then through Rue de Rivoli and along Rue Castiglione to Place Vendôme. We finished the evening with a Seine River Dinner Cruise. There are multiple cruises to select but we went with La Calife since their menu matched what we were looking for. What was perfect is that the cruise timed itself to be next to the Eiffel Tower at the exact moment of the nightly light show. Final day step count: 15,842 steps

Day 4 - Ile de la Cite and Le Marais

Ile de la Cite is an island in the river Seine in the center of Paris. The most notable thing to see is Notre Dame but there are other things to see and by far my favorite two were the Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie. Notre Dame was still under reconstruction from 2019 fire and the Archeological Crypt was closed the day we went. After leave Ile de la Cite, we crossed Pont d'Arcole to visit Le Marais. Walking back to the hotel, one of the most surprising and gorgeous finds was the La Madeleine church. It has a classic Greek design from the outside and just absolutely breathtaking on the inside. We finished the evening with a birthday celebration and six-course meal at L'Arome. Final day step count: 16,827 steps

Day 5 - Orsay Museum, Petite Palais, Eiffel Tower

I vaguely remember going to the Orsay Museum when I was 15 years old since I remember that it was a highlight of my trip. I still am in love with this museum. From the museum, we strolled over the massive Alexander III Bridge to the Petite Palace but unfortunately, the Grand Palais was under reconstruction, like so much of Paris. Afterwards, we walked along the Seine River to see the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero Gardens, but the gardens were also under reconstruction. Final day step count: 16,262

Day 6 - Versailles

There's no picture that truly captures the awe of Palace of Versailles. This was a short train trip ride from Paris and the only thing I wish is that I could see this during the Spring or Summer to truly get a feel of the gardens. Once again, there was reconstruction and only one of the fountains outside was on but it was still a lovely place to visit on our last day in Paris. Final day step count: 20,978

My 15-year-old self truly missed out and no wonder she thought the trip was "meh." This was a completely different experience and despite the numerous construction and restoration as the city begins preparing for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, it was truly a magical city. Although I came to Paris at the age of 15, I can say that I truly visited Paris in 2023 the right way. There was so much more of the city that we didn't get a chance to explore and we look forward to returning one day.

Brittany | UGA Graduation Photography Shoot | Athens, Georgia https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2022/4/brittany-uga Brittany's UGA Graduation Portraits | Athens, Georgia

Although I typically shoot sports, there are occasions when I say "yes" to doing a senior photography shoot. Most recently, I traveled from Atlanta, Georgia to Athens, Georgia on a cold, spring April morning. Earlier that week, the weather was 70 degrees however on this day, the high was in the low 50's and we also had to battle with the wind. No worries ... Brittany was a trouper and you can never tell from these images how cold she truly was.

Defrosting The Lens https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/12/defrosting-the-lens During the week of December 4th, Allatoona Wrestling was on my photography schedule until Atlanta got hit with a "dusting". What started as "it won't stick" became close to 11 inches in parts of West Cobb, Georgia ... including in my own backyard.

All school activities were canceled Friday, December 8th and school didn't resume until Tuesday, December 12th. As things began to finally defrost during the week of December 11th, Allatoona Wrestling and Allatoona Swim became my focus.

First up was Allatoona Wrestling Senior and Alumni Night on Wednesday, December 13th. Allatoona Wrestling took on River Ridge and Sprayberry.

Hoop Dreams https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/12/hoop-dreams Thankfully, I only had one event to shoot since I was still full on turkey and pie from the last few days. Since I decided to be just a "parent" during Saturday's Allatoona swim meet (yes, sometimes I do put the camera down), I only shot Allatoona Men's Basketball during the week of November 27, 2017.

On Friday, December 1st, Allatoona Men's Basketball had a non-conference home game against Etowah High School

Black Friday Football https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/11/black-friday-football The week of November 20, 2017 was Thanksgiving week and school was out. Playoffs continued for Allatoona Football which meant 8:30 a.m. football practice every morning including on Thanksgiving Day.

Practicing on Thanksgiving Day isn't anything new to the Buccaneers. Although Allatoona is only 10 years old, they've practiced on Thanksgiving Day five out of the past eight years. Instead of Black Friday shopping, Allatoona headed to Adams Stadium to take on 11-1 Tucker High School, number one seed from Region 4-AAAAAA.

Since they haven't revealed the posters yet, will keep all of those images a secret. Although, I am loving this dance image that I can't help but share!

The rest of the week was action-packed! I shot four Allatoona sports during the week of November 12th which included Men's and Women's Basketball, Varsity Football, JV and Varsity Wrestling and Swimming.

Hello, November https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/11/hello-november First week of November and football is still in action. Allatoona had their final regular season game at Dalton High School, 60 miles away. Allatoona went into this game with a guaranteed playoff spot but most importantly, a win would give them home-field advantage for the first round.

The last time Allatoona played Dalton was nearly a year ago on November 4, 2016 where Dalton pulled away with a win with a final score of 24-22.

This time was different.

No Place Like Home https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/10/no-place-like-home With Allatoona Fast Pitch Softball playing in the GHSA State Championship in Columbus, GA, the only Allatoona sport on deck for me was Allatoona Football.

Friday, October 27th was the last regular season home game for the Allatoona Buccaneers and they were taking on River Ridge High School. Playoffs start November 10th and because seeding has yet to be determined, every game matters. There's no place like home and Allatoona would love to have home field advantage for the playoffs!

I was fortunate to be able to capture Allatoona Fast Pitch Softball, Freshman Football, Varsity Football, Varsity Competition Cheer and Cross Country. It makes me tired just typing it up.

It all started on Wednesday, October 18th. Allatoona Fast Pitch Softball competed in the GHSA second round playoffs against Dunwoody HS. Allatoona had home field advantage and it was a best of three series.

Hello, Fall! https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/10/hello-fall It was Fall Break which means it was an extremely quiet week for sports in Cobb County, Georgia. Fortunately, there was one sport that I had the opportunity to shoot, Allatoona Fast Pitch Softball.

It wasn't a home game but since the opponent was Harrison High School, I didn't have to travel far. Harrison is actually closer to my house than Allatoona.

Last Week of Summer https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/9/last-week-of-summer It was the last week of summer but with temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s, it was hard to tell that fall was on the horizon. On deck for the week was Varsity Volleyball, JV Football and Varsity Football.

Blue Skies https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/9/blue-skies As Hurricane Irma was approaching, Cobb County schools made the decision to cancel school and all activities Monday and Tuesday during the week of September 11th.

This means Varsity Softball's game against Harrison on Tuesday was canceled and unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the Wednesday rescheduled game.

After Irma passed us by, we were blessed with blue skies for the remainder of the week but continued to keep victims from both Harvey and Irma in our thoughts. Allatoona High School is also pulling together to collect donations through the end of this week for Houston.

Fall is Coming https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/9/fall-is-coming If you were one of the 12.1 million people that watched Game of Thrones' season finale, you know "Winter is Here." Luckily, here in the state of Georgia, we still have days that are at least 80 degrees but you can tell the fall temperatures are coming.

A Week of Wins https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/8/a-week-of-wins Another full week of sports consisting of volleyball and football games! I had the opportunity to enjoy Senior Night with both of my HS Seniors and remembered every single moment (mostly because we captured it on our GoPro camera).

Friday Night Lights Returns https://www.chrystalmoore.com/blog/2017/8/friday-night-lights-returns One of my favorite times of the year...Friday Night Lights! It's back for the 2017 season and this one is a little more special than others. I have two seniors that are part of the program, a football player and a manager. Trying to take in every single moment.
